Day 42: Grown Men Don't Fall in the River Just Like That

Finding it hard. I feel dull and empty, missing the unpredictability of what happens when I drink.

It's like I'm getting ready for something but I don't know what it is. I am fit and healthy and clean and home alone again on Friday, Saturday night. I'm too scared to go anywhere in case I succumb to the temptation of alcohol. If this is the future, I don't want it.

I'm probably going to have to radically reassess my priorities or something but right now I just want to take on an oak tree in a fist fight.

  1. That's the title of a song by Ferry's band too isn't it or am I getting confused?

Sometimes you have to have vacuums in life so good or different stuff can come to fill it in your future...I know that sounds mystic and nonsense. Sorry!!

    Are you on Goodreads website?

  2. Welcome back - I'd missed your daily posts. Dunno if that makes me a weirdo.

Time to take up something that is social but not alcoholic and will get you out the house on a night? Salsa? Zumba? Aikido? Other exciting foreign words? I realise such classes are pricey but there's got to be *something* out there within your means. And if you don't want to leave the house, I've heard great things about goodreads and there are lots of sites like it...

  4. Thanks for comments, ladies. I'm gonna try and get back to daily entries even if it feels like a wind is blowing though my empty mind!

Mira - I might not believe in 'fate' but I do think that I myself (and other people) can come up with good stuff to fill the void...
    Also, Ferry's band??

MKG: I was thinking about doing a life drawing class. I used to enjoy that kind of thing and it's a good way of clearing / focussing the mind.
